Miller et Bertaux – New Study (Postcard) – Summer Ready Freshness. 7.5/10.
New Study (Postcard) from underrated French house Miller et Bertaux is a fantastic fresh scent for the warm weather. In the opening stages, the mood-enhancing citrus medley of grapefruit, mandarin, and lemon provides a boost. On my skin, the grapefruit is the most dominant. Indeed, this isn’t the usual sulphurous sharp grapefruit à la Guerlain’s Pamplelune. Here it is more muted, balanced against the other citruses, and eventually usurped by additional notes. However, it doesn’t go away completely.
The additional notes I refer to are fig, fig leaf, coconut, and green grass. Significantly, the coconut (listed as coconut milk) does not go into suntan lotion territory. And the fig does not make me think of Philosykos or Premier Figuier. The coconut injects a lactonic, creamy facet, but New Study Postcard is juicier and more citrus centric than those two classic fig scents. There’s also an element of fresh green grass, adding a natural, carefree component into the mix.
It’s a scent that would happily fit into Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria line. Unquestionably, something I relish over-spraying and re-applying after 3-4 hours. Undoubtedly, a high-quality release from a house I’m enjoying. Although not overly complex, New Study Postcard is perfectly evocative of the brand’s inspiration of a postcard from a Mediterranean island flourishing with orange fields, wild lemons, and freshly cut herbs sold at market stalls.
As I mentioned in the title of this post, I recently took a trip to the Sunshine Coast for a few days of sun and relaxation. Together with one other scent, which I will reveal and review in my next post (part 2), this Miller et Bertaux was a scent I decanted and took with me. Undoubtedly, Postcard was the perfect perfume accompaniment to the warm sunny weekend. Here are a few pictures from my trip.
Looks blissful (not crowded!) and New Study / Postcard sounds like the perfect perfume aura for your holiday. Glad you were able to relax for a few days!
Thanks! And yes, there are about 30 or so beaches on the Sunshine Coast, this is one of the quieter spots (Caloundra). Though, I was out pretty early in the morning.
Perfect scent for this dreamy destination! Beautiful pictures!
Thanks so much, Tetê! Glad you like the scent and the shots.
My cousins daughter was “Miss Sunshine Coast” for a year in the 90’s, even though she was from Armadale WA.
The fragrance sounds right up my alley. Citrusy & green
Ah really? Wonderful! Was she living on the Sunshine Coast at the time? Hopefully you get to try the fragrance.
Oooh beautiful shots, looks like a lovely trip was had!
Hey Marcus, thanks! Yes, it was a fantastic trip.
