Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of sampling Eris Parfums for the first time. If you haven’t tried the brand, please do, as they have some excellent releases. The brand’s seventh perfume, Scorpio Rising, takes inspiration from astrology and possibly a Kenneth Anger short film of the same name. Indeed, Antoine Lie’s composition for Eris is suitably mysterious, suggestive, and spicy.
However, to call Scorpio Rising spicy would be an understatement. The spice level here is dialled up to 11. It’s almost fiery. Warm and enveloping pepper (both pink and black), cinnamon, cardamom, and immortelle sit over the top of smoky incense and leather. Despite all that, Scorpio Rising feels clean and well-rounded and would work as an everyday wear perfume, albeit with a good deal of edginess. To be sure, you won’t smell like anyone else while wearing Scorpio Rising.
Having said that, comparisons have been made with Comme des Garçons, and they are entirely appropriate. To be sure, there’s a touch of the avant-garde about Scorpio Rising. CDG’s perfumes, such as Black, Black Pepper, and Wonderwood, come to mind when wearing Scorpio Rising. The synthetic woody base is also redolent of the Comme des Garçons style. Still, Scorpio Rising is distinct enough, enjoyable, and nicely done. One of my favourites from the house. Some of the brand’s perfumes (Ma Bête in particular ) feel distinctly vintage, but Scorpio Rising feels entirely modern. It’s well worth sampling.

Have you tried this one? Do you have a favourite from Eris Parfums?
Below are some photos that I took that make me think of this firebrand perfume.
