I’m a massive fan of sports and wanted to combine my love of fragrances and sports into this blog. The Olympics are the pinnacle of sports and I thought a series highlighting my favourite 3 fragrances for a note would be a fun way to showcase what I consider best in show.
It works like an Olympic podium (gold, silver and bronze) and I might throw a couple of honourable mentions in as benchwarmers. First up on the blocks are designer mint fragrances.
Let’s look at a few worthy entries that made the Olympic Final but didn’t quite make the podium.
6. Armani Code Sport Athlete: A now retired competitor that reminds me of a fizzy lemonade with added mint.
5. Yves Saint Laurent Live Jazz: A veteran of the game featuring mint and lemon. Still has plenty to offer and can teach the youngsters a thing or two.
4. Cartier Roadster: Mint, vanilla and vetiver provide a refreshing combination, but just misses the podium by a mint leaf.
Here are the medallists.
3. Carven L’eau Intense: Here we have a bracing mint and lemon combination from Carven. It is a perfect choice for a summer’s day. As a bonus, it has excellent longevity, easily lasting 8+ hours. In a genre dominated by sprinters this is a fragrance built on endurance.
Silver medal is:
2. Comme des Garcon Series 5 Sherbet Peppermint: Mint and rose burst from the blocks in this 2003 Comme des Garcon fragrance. Unfortunately, longevity is an issue for this sprinter, but who cares when you can reapply. The 100m is always the most exciting event at the Olympics anyway.
Gold medal designer mint is.
1. Mugler A*Men Kyrptomint: Iced peppermint leads from the front as the patchouli, tonka, chocolate DNA of the original A*Men provides muscle. The fresh top notes balance out the heavy base to ensure this mint chocolate chip ice cream fragrance can compete in Summer and Winter and all points in between. A worthy winner.
