First Impressions 16/3/2019

They say first impressions are important and, in this series, I bring to you some of my first thoughts on new releases that I’ve sampled recently.

Burberry Her Burberry for women

Burberry Her: I didn’t think I’d like Burberry Her.  I really didn’t.  I’ve not been a fan of the latest sweet fruity floral releases flooding the market.  However, Francis Kurkdjian has taken sweetness to a whole new level with this strawberry, raspberry, cherry filled confection.  It has a happy youthful feel that makes it hard to hate.  Would I buy it?  Probably not, but I wouldn’t mind smelling it on someone else.

Under The Lemon Tree Maison Martin Margiela for women and men

Maison Martin Margiela Under the Lemon Trees: I’ve tried most of the MMM replica series fragrances, some I like (At the Barbers, Beach Walk) and some I do not (By the Fireplace).  On first impression, Under the Lemon Trees falls squarely in the like category.  It’s like a refreshing lemon infused green tea.  Perfect for lazy summer days.  Ironically it contains no lemon in the note breakdown, rather lime and petitgrain create a lemon like accord.  I may purchase the 10ml travel spray.

Bvlgari Man Wood Essence Bvlgari for men

Bvlgari Man Wood Essence:  I try to find something positive to say about everything.  So here we go….. Nice bottle.

Fleur de Peau Diptyque for women and men

Diptyque Fleur De Peau: My favourite out of the bunch though must be this iris and musk dominated 2018 release from Diptyque.  It’s clean and soapy and envelops the wearer in a powdery, rosy cloud of musk.  The iris here does not offer up a lipstick vibe to my nose, making it perfectly unisex.  It lasted on skin all day with average projection.  Will I go back for seconds?  You better believe it.

Have you tried any of these new releases?  What were your thoughts?
