Lush – Dirty – Good. Clean. Fun. 7.5/10.
Those crazy kooky cats at Lush with their zany off-the-wall perfumes and funny names. I guess you either love them or loathe them. One can’t deny their fragrances are unique. The brand has given us some doozies, from the patchouli/bubble gum combo of Tank Battle to the smoke-filled woods of Breath of God. The rather inappropriately named Dirty is the only one I own from the brand. I’ve been wearing Dirty a bit lately, so what better time than straight after my post on ånd fragrances to journal some of my thoughts regarding this Lush scent?
As I mentioned, the first thing that will strike you when wearing Dirty is that it isn’t very dirty. It’s so clean and fresh and is very much the antithesis of dirty. Dirty, like most Lush scents, smells very natural. The perfume evokes the feeling of eating spearmint gum on a humid day in an herb garden near the ocean. Aromatic notes of thyme and tarragon complement the bracing spearmint opening, but lavender and sandalwood are also prominent on my skin.
The lavender in Lush almost gives it a medicinal quality. But, of course, that could also be some of the other clean herbal facets at play. The quirky interplay between the anisic herbal notes, medicinal lavender, and airy sandalwood is highly evocative of the great outdoors. And to that end, Dirty one works wonders in the heat and at the beach, but I’d hesitate to recommend it for the office or close-quarter encounters.
If longevity is your thing, Dirty has all-day shower fresh, lasting power. This unyielding freshness could be too much for some. However, I love it. Completely androgynous, Lush can be worn by both men and women. Though I wouldn’t recommend blind buying this one, or any Lush perfume for that matter, they are divisive. Always try before you buy. That shouldn’t be too hard, as Lush seems to have stores everywhere.
Do you have a favourite from Lush or a favourite minty perfume?

I think i have tried only the cardamom coffee scent from them; i am curious to try the jasmine and this one.
Very nice dear Tetê. I enjoy the Cardamom Coffee. Let me know what you make of this one when you sample it.
Thanks for adding another to my sample list, Daniel. This sounds intriguing.
Cheers. Hopefully, you get a chance to try it soon. Intrigued to hear your thoughts.
Hi Daniel, you don’t come to insta, so I must come to you:)
Dirty is a great in high heat and smells very natural as you pointed out. Have you tried Lush’s weird scents like Lord of Goathorn, Smell of weather turning, Fantabulosa, Himalaya? Even the non-weird ones are excellent: Lust, 1000 kisses deep, Death and decay.
Take care,
Stefan (smells_like_bee_spirit)
Hey Stefan. Thanks for reading and commenting. Hope you’ve been well. I’ve only tried Lord of Goathorn. Very interesting scent. I’ve just looked up the notes of the others you mention, and I’m intrigued. I will search them out.
