What the?

So I was scrolling through Fragrantica today and had to do a double-take. I noticed two new releases had appeared on the website in their “New Perfume” tab. Mastercard, that’s right, the financial services company, is planning to enter the fragrance game. God help us. Priceless Passion and Priceless Optimism are the imaginative names of the two scents.

MasterCard’s new fragrances.
Just what we’ve all been waiting for – Mastercard Fragrances. Image courtesy of Google.

Priceless Passion is a fruity rose scent with berries and woody notes, and Priceless Optimism is billed (see what I did there) as a citrus aromatic with orange, rhubarb, and grapefruit. Dora Baghriche and Marie Salamagne are the co-authors of the two new scents. They sound pretty dull, but credit where credit is due (wink wink), at least they are doing something slightly different. I doubt either one will have me swiping my credit card to make a purchase, though. Now we wait with great interest for AMEX and VISA to return serve. I’m sure we can bank on a few flankers. And no, It’s not even April 1.

Thoughts?

    1. I think that is also the reaction we would get if someone was to ask us what we are wearing and we told them, Priceless Passion by Mastercard. Haha.

  1. Ha! My thoughts are that this was a very funny write up, nice one Daniel! I’m waiting for Xerox to release “Perfect Copy Of Aventooos Pour Homme”. 🙂

  2. Ha! Ha! Would be curious to try them, as they are created by accomplished perfumers, but not in a rush to do so either. Fragrance is a profitable biz, so makes sense and dollars (couldn’t help myself) in a way.

    1. Haha. Yes indeed. The notes sound ok and the perfumers are very good, so they maybe worth a try. Probably won’t be so easy to find, though.

  3. I thought it was a joke, but no, apparently Mastercard has entered the fragrance game. Well… Lol, that’s my only reaction but the world has gone crazy, so nothing shocks me anymore. How are you doing, Daniel? I miss you on Instagram

    1. Haha. I was checking if it was April Fools Day but it was not. No, nothing surprises me anymore either. I’m doing well thanks, Loredana. Hope you are too?
