Winter Wonder – Molton Brown

Long time, no post. I’ve been in winter hibernation, alternating over the last couple of weeks between a few different scents, namely Masque Milano’s animalic tobacco, Montecristo, and Parfum d’Empires soft suede iris, Cuir Ottoman. Both have served me well during this midwinter time. Queensland winters are hardly harsh. Daytime temperatures in the low to mid 20-degree Celsius range are commonplace. That’s around 77 Fahrenheit. In conjunction with the pleasant temperatures, the days are generally dry, taking a toll on my skin. To combat the dryness, I usually lather up in a fragrance-free body moisturiser. The effects of which are twofold. It moisturises my skin and acts as a longevity, extending complement to my scent.

Milk Musk. My picture.

Recently, I was tipped off by my perfume friend on Instagram, Tete @niche_rare_fragrances, about a range of products from Molton Brown that was worth checking out. I’m not a newcomer to the brand. I’ve long been a fan of their shower gels, in particular the Re-Charge Black Pepper. I’ve never used their body lotion, but I decided to buy their Milk Musk lotion based on Tete’s rave reviews. I am not disappointed. It does the job, hydrating the skin all day without necessarily getting in the way of your perfume.

The body lotion can be used on its own. The scent is a creamy, fruity sweet blend of milk, peach, pear, tonka and vanilla. There is a hint of woodiness that keeps Milk Musk in unisex territory. The cocooning musks act like a warming blanket. Some guys may see it as being a touch feminine, though. The lotion’s scent lingers relatively well on the skin, but I hazard to guess if I layered it with the perfume and shower gel, I would enjoy excellent projection and longevity. I may have to try that. I love the stuff. The fragrance comes in EDP or EDT form, and they have slightly different note pyramids. The EDP forgoes the fruity top of peach and pear and woody base and replaces it with benzoin and elemi. The lotion seems to mimic the EDT.
