First Impressions – Parle Moi de Parfum – 2020 Releases

Last year I procured a discovery set of Parle Moi de Parfum’s entire collection. I was very impressed. Wearing their beautiful, transparent, Totally White perfume on a warm autumn Queensland night jogged my memory. I’d neglected to write about their two 2020 releases that I’d sampled during the summer holidays in early January. I stumbled upon both Haute Provence and Mile High while strolling the boutiques in Brisbane’s trendy James Street district. The results of my skin testing of the perfumes are below.

Parle Moi de Parfum – Haute Provence 89 – A light ozonic lavender scent that doesn’t rise to any great heights. The infusion of aqueous, melon notes with the aromatic lavender failing to capture my attention. The focus is far too heavy on the melon, and the lavender is not prominent enough. Far too safe for its own good. One of the few disappointments from the brand.

Parle Moi de Parfum – Mile High 38 – Rather surprisingly, I enjoyed Mile High more than Haute Provence. The combination of immortelle, pineapple, patchouli, and tonka bean wasn’t one I was eager to seek out. Pineapple and immortelle are not my favourite perfumery ingredients. When we think pineapple, we think of one scent, and no Mile High doesn’t go down that path. It isn’t an Aventus wannabe. Mile High feels like it could be a summer cocktail. Pina colada-like. The sugary, caramelised pineapple with a tobacco/tonka accord was quite enjoyable when I wore it on warm-weather day. It’s far from the strongest release from the house, but a thumbs up for this one.

Have you tried these releases? Do you have a favourite from the house?
