Stephane Humbert Lucas – Panthea Iris – Panthea Iris is one that many folks in Fragcomm have as their favourite iris. I have been slightly disappointed with it. Well made, no doubt. Housed in a beautiful bottle, no doubt. It lacks horsepower, though. The tonka, tea, and tobacco facets aren’t strong enough to push through to make a point of difference. The citrus opening of bergamot and tangerine is juicy but short-lived. The light floral heart of iris, violet, and jasmine veiled in a cloud of musks is lovely but ultimately forgettable. The well-balanced iris is not too lipstick-like or earthy. The violet and jasmine remain in the background, merely bit players. The combined effects of the floral notes convey a feeling of powdered freshness.
Panthea Iris is easy to wear, without any rough edges, so I can see why it’s so beloved. I’ll finish my sample, but I don’t think it’s for me. Dior Homme is, and may always be, my favourite iris. Panthea Iris, beautiful bottle and all, would struggle to make a top 10 iris scents in my book. Overall, Panthea Iris has below average sillage and poor longevity on my skin (gone within 4 hours). For what you’re getting, I think this iris is a tad overpriced.
Have you tried Panthea Iris? Do you have a favourite iris scent?

I like Panthea Iris, but yes, it’s a delicate skin scent. Great overview, aa always!
