Amouage – Meander – Late last year I tried the women’s fragrances from Amouage’s new “Renaissance Collection.” I didn’t like either. The new men’s scents aren’t any better. Meander seems like a poorly conceived combo of Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir and BDK Gris Charnel. I like the Narciso, although it isn’t my pick from the brand. I thought BDK’s Gris Charnel was less than stellar.
The sandalwood in Meander feels scratchy and stifled under a veil of ashy choking incense. The incense’s foggy impact takes over after about 10 minutes and begins to overwhelm the woods completely. The powdery effects of the mossy, earthy notes of iris, cypriol, and carrot seed are muted and subdued. As a whole, it doesn’t work on my skin. I don’t enjoy the smell. It’s such a pity as I like the bottle and presentation.
Amouage – Enclave – The spearmint and cardamom opening in Enclave has a cooling, icy, menthol-like effect on the skin. This first phase is enjoyable but sadly short-lasting. I could have done without the blast of aroma chemicals that was to follow. The predictable woody-amber base soon takes over everything, sucking the life out of the scent.
I would not pay top dollar for this minty scent when there are better options available in cheaper perfumes that don’t overdose on the harshness. Forget this one and go with Herba Fresca from Guerlain, Cartier Roadster, or the like. Much like all the new ones from this line, Enclave is overpriced and disappointing.

Thanks for your reviews on these Daniel. I have briefly tried the 4 new ones and found them fairly appealing at first sniff, especially Crimson Rocks. I think they seem to be more mass appealing than the usual Amouage, and at that they do feel overpriced, as you say.
