It’s my first post of the year, and a Happy New Year to all. Last year, for my first post, I published a perfume wishlist for the year ahead. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since 2020, but one thing that never changes is the perfumista’s wishlist. There is always something to chase. What’s on yours? Here are a few of mine.
Wish 1 – Pictured above are a few of my travel size perfumes. All the bottles are 30 ml and below—the perfect size for anyone with an extensive collection of scents. My wish is for more brands to embrace the travel size. Bigger isn’t always better, and as far as perfume bottles go, good things come in small sizes.
Wish 2 – Circumstances around the world last year seemed to dictate a slowdown in releases. This slowdown was a good thing in my book. Many brands, Frederic Malle, for one, didn’t release anything in the way of new perfume. It became exhausting and overwhelming, seeing 5 or 6 new releases each day. Hopefully, this go-slow trend continues. The market is so saturated.
Wish 3 – There were many scents I didn’t get a chance to sample in 2020 that I’d love to try. Angel’s Share from Kilian, Chanel’s Le Lion, Rouge from Comme des Garcons and the new Masque Milano releases seem to be receiving a lot of buzz as well. They will all be well worth sampling.
Wish 4 – Getting out into the boutiques and stores to sample, sample, sample. It wasn’t possible to get out so much last year; we took our freedoms for granted. Hopefully, this year we can all return to more of a normal life. I won’t hold my breath on that one, though.
Wish 5 – Not a wish but more of a resolution. Only buy what I love. No blind buying. Always sample. Last year I purchased only 12 bottles. A lot for most, but pretty good going in my book. Let’s see if I can continue along those lines in 2021. Wish me luck.
