Memo Paris – Ocean Leather – There isn’t much to be said here other than this feels like a riff on Acqua di Gio, that after five minutes, dries down to a light, subtle herbal, suede scent. It’s unconvincing for the price. Forgettable at best. It lasts for 3-4 hours before vanishing completely. Undoubtedly, there are better alternatives, Acqua di Gio for one. Another Memo bites the dust.
Comme des Garcons – Copper – I searched far and wide for Copper, a 2019 release from the quirky Comme des Garcons. It never saw a release in Australia, as far as I’m aware. I finally discovered Nose Paris was selling samples, and on first impressions, I am happy to report Copper lives up to my high expectations.
The scent opens, fuzzy, smoky, and green, courtesy of a blast of galbanum. It has a metallic edge heralding the interesting journey to come. After a few minutes, violet leaf and ginger pierce through the galbanum’s sharpness, introducing a fresh powdery effect over the composition. Tobacco leaf injects a subtle sweetness that flows into the resinous, sweet, amber, vanilla, and myrrh in the dry down. Enjoyable from top to base, with plenty of interesting layers and contrasts to enjoy over the scent’s life. Oh, and how nice is that flacon?
Have you tried these releases?
