Serge Lutens – Des Clous Pour Une Pelure – “My god look at the colour of the juice.” That’s the first thing I said to myself when I saw the advertisement for the new Serge Lutens scent. Kind of looks like Listerine. Hopefully, it doesn’t smell like Listerine. Good news, it doesn’t. Bad news is it isn’t something I want to smell like (I don’t think). It’s a simple note breakdown of sweet orange in the top, cloves in the mid, and nutmeg in the base. All the notes are easily identifiable. Des Clous Pour Une Pelure smells like a spicy orange and clove pomander. The fragrance is highly evocative of Christmas, but isn’t overly heavy and is transparent enough to wear in the warmer months. I think I’d rather this in a room spray though. Thumbs up or thumbs down? I need to wear this one or two more times before I make my mind up. Des Clous Pour Une Pelure is linear in development, and lasts 4-5 hours on the skin.
In other Serge related news, I’ve heard the brand is releasing a new jasmine based scent, Fils de Joie. One to certainly look forward to, and is due for release sometime in September. Whether we see it here in Australia is another matter, as it seems to be hit and miss with our stockists here. The last two new releases I’ve not yet seen in store. Kind thanks to my Instagram friend, Tete, @niche_rare_fragrances, for the sample of Des Clous Pour Une Pelure. Have you tried this one yet? Are you looking forward to the new jasmine release?

Well, i think the beauty here is in its color. Similar to listerine in both color and scent. The sales assistant told me I was the forth person who made the same comment. And I don’t think I would like my room smelling like mouthwash either 😄
Hahaha. Fair enough. It’s not the strongest scent from the house, that’s for sure. Thanks again for the sample.
