First Impressions – Juliette has a gun

Lipstick Fever Juliette Has A Gun for women

Juliette has a gun – Lipstick Fever– I’m not the biggest fan of Jhag, I find their scents overly synthetic with somewhat interesting openings, and screechy, disappointing dry downs. They’re also rather overpriced for what they are. Bearing all that in mind my hopes for Lipstick Fever were not sky-high. I’m a tad removed from the demographic this fragrance is being marketed towards. The good news is I think this fragrance is Ok. I still wouldn’t buy it. Like many of the other Jhag scents, the opening is far more impressive than the dry down. There are only six notes listed for the scent, top notes of violet and raspberry, mid notes of iris and patchouli, and base notes of vanilla and cedar.

The raspberry bursts from the bottle and gives the scent a juicy, fruity opening, but surprisingly it’s the woodiness that comes to the fore early. The cedar note is strong and stays throughout on my skin. The scent never gives me the feel of cosmetics. The violet and iris are certainly noticeable but they are not overly powdery, but they do lean a touch waxy. It feels a more abstract take on lipstick scent than Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose and Maison Martin Margiela’s Lipstick On. I do prefer those scents to this one. Lipstick Fever, with the addition of the cedar note, leans more traditionally masculine. I have scents like Dior Homme and Guerlain L’Homme Ideal EdP that I’d wear ahead of this. All in all a decent job by Jhag. I didn’t scrub it off like I have with a few of their other scents, but it won’t be giving me fever any time soon.

Have you tried Lipstick Fever?

  1. Tks for sharing your honest review. I don’t like any scent from this house, so your review didn’t surprise me.

    1. Thanks very much for reading and commenting. Yes, most of the scents I’ve tried from this house are underwhelming.

  2. I haven’t tried this one, Daniel. I tried some JHAG scents long ago, but had tried too many other fragrances that day too, so I can’t really judge them in all fairness. Love your review, though.
