Sometimes, someone will say something that surprises you. Recently, I was asked by someone if I could recommend to them a fragrance that smells like bubble gum or chewing gum. It certainly isn’t a fragrance sub category one thinks about that often. Technically, we’re in the gourmand category when we’re talking gum, but usually most people are chasing the sweetness of chocolate, cake or my personal favourite, apple pie when we’re speaking about gourmand goodies.
Now you may be wondering why they wanted to smell like gum and the answer was twofold. First, they told me gum gave off a fresh aroma and they just wanted to smell fresh and clean. Ok, I can cop that, but why not just a fresh citrus smell? Well, they then went on to explain the smell of gum took them back to their childhood, whiling away the hours on the sporting field, playing in the park with their buddies and trying to blow the biggest bubbles they could. So, for this person, gum triggered an emotion, brought back fond memories and took this person back to a simpler time in their life. The happy memories of childhood sure are powerful and it never hurts to reminisce.

Paco Rabanne – Black XS – Raspberry, cherry bubble gum, with a touch of praline. One for those who like their bubble gum extra sweet.
Mancera – Velvet Vanilla – One spritz of Velvet Vanilla sends you into a high end Hubba Bubba cloud. Pure nostalgia.
